The school has a roll of approximately 470 pupils. Well over 90% have had pre-school experience. Many have enjoyed a wide range of experiences, have been read to extensively, and have travelled widely. In general, children are responsive, articulate and ready for learning experiences.
Most parents demonstrate a strong interest in the school and the educational opportunities it provides. Many are in professional/managerial positions, often with both parents working. There is a growing number of single parents and little unemployment. Parents provide valued assistance with parent help schemes when called upon, and assist with administrative functions, transport and support for extra-curricular activities. They have high expectations of the school and relate well to staff. An enthusiastic PTA is a vital part of the relationship between home and school and share in many school related activities and functions.
Thorrington has a teaching staff of 20 supported by a professional Board and Support Staff who are experienced, committed, and share a common purpose with regard to school philosophy.
